신안군 제1회 섬 홍매화축제, 3월 6일로 연기
[CBC뉴스] 최근 한파가 지속되면서 전남 지역에서 예정됐던 봄꽃 축제가 잇따라 연기되고 있다. 이상 기후로 인해 매화 개화 시기가 늦어짐에 따라 신안군은 당초 28일 개막 예정이던 제1회 섬 홍매화축제를 3월 6일로 연기했다.
신안군과 축제 추진위원회는 연기된 기간 동안 축제의 완성도를 높이기 위해 축제장 주변에 방풍막을 설치하고 일부 수목에는 비닐하우스를 씌우는 등 다양한 준비를 진행하고 있다.
이와 함께, 순천에서 예정됐던 매곡동 탐매축제도 추운 날씨로 인해 홍매화가 제때 피지 않으면서 3월 2일로 개막일이 연기됐다. 구례에서 열리는 산수유꽃축제 역시 예년보다 1주일 늦은 3월 15일에 개막할 예정이다.
산림청에 따르면 올해 겨울 평균기온이 섭씨 영하 1.8도로 떨어져, 작년 겨울 평균기온 0.7도에 비해 크게 낮아진 것이 개화 지연의 원인으로 분석됐다. 광주지방기상청 관계자는 "중국에서 내려온 차가운 고기압 때문에 한파가 기승을 부렸다"며 "25일부터는 평년 기온을 회복할 것"이라고 전망했다.
이처럼 봄의 시작을 알리는 전남 지역의 봄꽃 축제가 한파로 인해 차질을 빚고 있지만, 기온이 회복되면 아름다운 봄꽃을 만날 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 축제를 찾는 방문객들은 좀 더 따뜻한 날씨 속에서 봄의 향기를 만끽할 수 있을 것이다.

In Jeonnam province, known for heralding the arrival of spring, the region's beloved spring flower festivals are facing delays due to an unexpected cold spell. The chilly weather has postponed the much-anticipated blooming of flowers, leading to rescheduling of several events.
The 1st Island Red Plum Blossom Festival in Sinan County, originally set for February 28th, has been deferred to March 6th. The county decided on the delay as the recent cold wave has postponed the plum blossoms' blooming season. Organizers are using the extra week to enhance preparations, installing windbreaks and setting up greenhouses to ensure a better experience for attendees.
Similarly, the Suncheon Maegok-dong Tanmae Festival, initially slated for February 22nd, will now take place on March 2nd, as the red plum blossoms failed to bloom on schedule due to the frigid temperatures.
Gurye's Sansuyu Flower Festival has also been pushed back to March 15th, roughly a week later than usual. The Korea Forest Service reports that while last winter's average temperature was a typical 0.7 degrees Celsius, this year's average plummeted to -1.8 degrees Celsius, contributing to the delayed flowering.
According to an official from the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration, the severe cold was caused by a cold high pressure system from China. However, temperatures are expected to normalize from February 25th, bringing some relief to festival planners and attendees eager to welcome spring's floral displays.
