[CBC뉴스] 서울아산병원이 미국 시사주간지 뉴스위크가 발표한 '2025 세계 최고 병원 250'에서 25위를 차지하며 국내 병원 중 가장 높은 순위를 기록했다. 이로써 서울아산병원은 2019년부터 꾸준히 국내 1위 자리를 유지하고 있으며, 이번 결과는 글로벌 의료 경쟁력의 입지를 다시 한번 확고히 했다는 평가를 받고 있다.
뉴스위크는 글로벌 조사기관 스타티스타와 협력해 30개국 의료 전문가들의 평가와 환자 만족도를 종합하여 이번 순위를 발표했다. 이에 따르면 세계 최고의 병원으로는 미국 미네소타주의 메이요 클리닉이 선정됐고, 이어 클리블랜드 클리닉, 캐나다 토론토 종합병원, 미국 존스홉킨스 병원, 스웨덴의 카롤린스카 대학병원이 상위권에 올랐다. 아시아 병원 중에서는 싱가포르 종합병원이 9위로 가장 높은 순위를 기록했다.
우리나라에서는 서울아산병원을 포함하여 총 6개의 병원이 100위 내에 이름을 올렸다. 삼성서울병원이 30위, 서울대병원이 42위, 세브란스병원이 46위에 각각 자리했고, 분당서울대병원과 강남세브란스병원도 각각 68위와 87위로 뒤를 이었다. 전체적으로는 250위 내에 16개의 국내 병원이 선정됐으며, 이들 중 서울에 위치한 병원이 13곳, 경기도에 2곳, 인천에 1곳이 포함됐다. 다만, 비수도권 지역의 병원은 순위에 오르지 못해 지역 의료 균형 발전의 필요성이 제기되고 있다.
서울아산병원은 이미 지난해 뉴스위크가 발표한 '2025 임상분야별 세계 최고 병원' 순위에서도 내분비 3위, 소화기 4위, 암·비뇨기 5위에 오르며 뛰어난 전문성을 인정받은 바 있다. 이러한 성과는 서울아산병원의 의료진과 직원들의 노력, 그리고 환자 중심의 의료 서비스 제공이 결실을 맺은 결과로 풀이된다.

This recognition underscores the center's continuous excellence and leadership within Korea, a status it has upheld since 2019. The rankings, developed in partnership with global research firm Statista, are based on rigorous evaluations from medical professionals across 30 countries, alongside patient satisfaction scores.
Asan Medical Center's remarkable performance is complemented by its achievements in specialized fields. In the "World's Best Specialized Hospitals 2025" rankings, it secured the 3rd position in Endocrinology, 4th in Gastroenterology, and 5th in both Oncology and Urology. These accolades highlight the center's comprehensive capabilities and commitment to specialized care.
The global list is topped by the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, USA, followed by other leading institutions such as the Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins Hospital. Among Asian facilities, Singapore General Hospital ranks 9th, showcasing the competitive nature of healthcare standards across the continent.
Korea's presence in the global healthcare arena is further solidified with six hospitals, including Asan Medical Center, making it into the top 100. Samsung Medical Center secured the 30th spot, while Seoul National University Hospital and Severance Hospital were placed 42nd and 46th, respectively. Additional Korean hospitals in the top 100 include Bundang Seoul National University Hospital at 68th and Gangnam Severance Hospital at 87th.
In total, 16 Korean hospitals are featured within the top 250, with a significant concentration in Seoul. This clustering indicates the city's pivotal role in Korea's healthcare landscape, although it also highlights a geographical disparity, as no hospitals outside the Seoul metropolitan area made the list. This concentration raises questions about healthcare access and the potential need for regional development to ensure equitable healthcare provision across the country.
